Temple on top of Mount Kurama. It's marvelous. You get there through a small trail, with even more temples and Torii. If you are luck y enough you will catch the monks singing.

Beautiful temple at the top of the mountain. Wear comfortable shoes cause you will have to hike up (after the cable car) and walk down!

The temple itself is not impressive but its a nice walk up the stone steps though the main gate, past the lanterns and shrines on the way. Good views of Hieizan. Very busy even on a weekday in autumn

Nice place for little trekking. View along the way is gorgeous. There is an outdoor Onsen nearby (10 - 15 minutes walk from the station).

清少納言が『枕草子』で「近うて遠きもの、くらまのつづらおりといふ道」と記した鞍馬寺の表参道。まさに九十九折に上っていきます。現在は30分ほどで、頂上の本殿の金堂と奥の院魔王殿へ。ケーブルカーもありますが、時間と体力がゆるせば、九十九折りの参道を一歩一歩歩いて景色を楽しみ空気を感じながら上り、ここ鞍馬寺と貴船神社参拝で日中ゆったりと過ごす事をお勧めします。
